"Many of our exhibitors have connections to the Haitian art community, and the simple humanitarian act of donating to a charity working on this tragedy is imperative," says Sanford Smith, fair producer and organizer, who plans to donate a percentage of ticket sales to the charity.
A display at the entrance of the fair will highlight works donated by participating exhibitors to be sold for the cause. Several of these artworks are exciting new pieces being premiered at the fair. In addition, many dealers plan to devote sections of their booths to Haitian artists with a percentage of sales to be contributed to the relief efforts. Information detailing where to find participating exhibitors on the show floor will be made available at the entrance to the fair.
The Outsider Art Fair will run February 5 – 7 at 7 West 34th Street, near Fifth Avenue. Hours are: Friday, 11am – 8pm; Saturday, 11am – 7pm; and Sunday, 11am – 6pm.
