Biography

Scott Griffin is a shy contemporary Outsider artist. He was born in Oshawa, Canada in 1970. His father worked for General Motors and was a part time bush pilot while his mother was a school teacher. The Griffin family moved onto a small farm on Scugog Island in 1973, where Scott and younger brother Clint grew up surrounded by airplanes, and snow. It was there that he saw his father flying into his farm .

Scott obtains his material searches in scrap metals from dealers in Toronto, Canada. He told me that his biggest concern is running out of objects. He burns the images on the metal. One of his favorite themes is the plane. He calls his work drawings on metals. Recently he has experimented with paintings with encaustic.

Scott's drawings on metal and his new encaustic works have a large following both in Canada and the States.
